Values Based Leadership is recognized and rewarded at Mellott Company. As a company, we believe that good values are the basis for the culture that drives our success. Annually, employees who have shown leadership in our values are selected for recognition at an awards ceremony during the Christmas luncheon, when almost every company employee is gathered in the same space.

We congratulate this year’s winners.

GREG WALTERS, Operations Manager

Greg challenges the norm and pushes his team to new heights of Safety Achievements.  His mind is always focused on safety and how to improve it.  He has a keen understanding of how people and processes can be combined to achieve results.  His leadership abilities provide unique opportunities for his Team to grow, learn and build.  Our successful safety culture can be partly attributed to Greg’s leadership and initiative throughout the evolution of our Values Based Leadership history.  He continues to build upon that foundation. 

INTEGRITY—Inspiring Trust and Confidence

PAT MEARKLE, General Manager, Parts Sales   

Pat’s stoic personality and balanced style of leadership inspires Trust and Confidence.  His consistent approach to managing and selling is an important characteristic that promotes a sense of authenticity and honesty.  Pat has a long history of achievement in the Parts Sales environment that originates with his desire to manage in a way that promotes success for all the stakeholders of the business:  Owners, Customers, Employees, and Community. 

COMMITMENT—Achieving stability in our relationships and partnerships

Cliff Clites, Service Technician

Cliff traveled to Uganda with a desire for adventure in an unknown world.  He took on the challenge with confidence in our company, our employees, our products, and our partners.  Cliff would admit that this trip provided him with personal and career fulfillment in addition to a memorable experience.  His responsive action and leadership took our Company to a new Continent and established new partners and relationships.  Cliff’s willingness to go beyond his comfort zone to reach new heights in his career is commendable.

JOHN HAFER, Superintendent, Field Crushing Operations

The Maryland Materials job site has been a beacon of light in our contract crushing operations.  John has helped to build the team that operates the plant, which is our largest and most versatile.  John has worked to promote and build constructive relationships with our customer and employees.  His effort to promote teamwork, fulfillment, and self-esteem is evident in the successes we enjoy at this site.  John is focused on safety, quality, and achieving production goals on a daily basis.  John’s resilient and constant effort to meet the needs of our customer has strengthened our relationship with our partner.

EXCELLENCE—Achieving Optimal Results

JOHN DESHONG, Supervisor, Set-Up/Tear-Down

The Belgrade plant setup and startup successes are due, in large part, to John’s leadership and ingenuity.  John took on the challenge to meet and sometimes exceed expectations.  In the process he was a Champion of our Mission, Vision and Values.  He has led his setup crew every step of the way partnering with our customer and employees.  John’s “get it done” style resulted in a quality startup.  His ability and willingness to travel and stay until the job was done helped make the job a success.  John’s vigilant eye on our goals helped us to achieve optimal results at a very strategic operation.
