At Mellott Company, we use the same type of equpment that we distribute for Metso. This puts us in a unique situation of being able to recommend Metso brand equipment based on the experience we have with the equipent in our own operations. We are particularly happy about this new impactor Metso introduced--the new Nordberg® NP13(TM) impact crusher, to fill out the range of field-proven of NP-series impactors. Safety and performance has guided the design, which makes the NP13 a supreme choice for applications in secondary and tertiary crushing.

The new Nordberg NP13 is very similar to the Nordberg NP15, but is dimensioned for smaller capacity requirements.

"Performance, profitability and maintenance of the crushing plants are at the heart of this new crusher," says Vincent Schmitt, Metso's Product Manager for NP Series impact crushers.

More throughput, less recirculation

The NP13 features a steeper feed angle, which improves crushing efficiency and yields more end products with less recirculation load. The steeper angle causes material to penetrate deeper into the rotor chamber and makes the discharge curve less sensitive to blow-bar wear. This results in a more consistent end products over time, with less blow bar maintenance and change-out..

The NP13 accepts feed material up to 14" and may be equipped with a 400-hp-motor on a single drive. The throughput capacity is up to 20% more than that of the existing NP1213 model, under the same conditions, and it requires a less heavy steel structure for installation.

Automation and smart wear part arrangement increase cost efficiency

NP13 only requires seven different liners, which is nearly half compared with the NP1213. This innovative wear-part arrangement means less need for to carry parts in stock but also more flexibility in the use of the side liners.

Metso IC crusher automation contributes consistent and predicaboe product quality. The Metso IC system gives granular control of the crusher parameters to yield a high-quality product and improved plant profitability. The system is available for all Metso crushers, including the NP13.

Metso customers always have the right tools with a wide selection of blow bars, irrespective of how abrasive the feed material is. No attachement system on the market is as easy as Metso's unique triple-wedge blow bar configuration. It provides a highly solid assembly that allows the use of ceramic insert blow bars, even with coarse feed.

Metso innovations make maintenance safe

For safer and easier maintenance, NP13 features a new rear frame with two-parts, which combine safety with easy, wide access. The operator can choose to open the frame, depending on where access is needed.

The patented, removable breaker-plate cassette on NP13 ensures the safe replacement of breaker plate liners. This innovation consists of a removable assembly so the breaker plate liners can be changed in a safe place outside the crusher. Additional spare cassettes can be prepared in advance to speed up liner changes.

The innovative maintenance bridge for NP13 is a professional solution to provide easy access to both the rotor and the highest side-liners. This means that safe working conditions are always afforded to the maintenance workers.

Another patented feature, the Self-Rotation Rotor (SRR) system, further increases safety during maintenance operations, such as setting adjustment and blow bar change, and . Thanks to its automated turning, the rotor provides a safe environment for changing the blow bars without any risk of injury for the operator.

In addition to these benefits, NP13 offers numerous options to help clients customize the crusher to fit their specific technical and business needs. Options like a fully hydraulic setting adjustment; third breaker plate; drive equipment; sensors, and; automatic greasing, are some choices that make the NP13 suitable for many applications.
