Each year, Aggregates Manager recognizes an industry leader for his or her outstanding citizenship, business acumen and industry leadership. This year, Aggregates Manager recognizes Paul Mellott, Jr., as AggMan of the Year for 2011.

"I can think of no better example of true industry leadership than Paul Mellott Jr.," says the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Therese Dunphy. "Paul possesses a unique combination of visionary leadership and strategic thinking. From the evolution of his family business to his nurturing of young talent to his passion for building industry influence on Capitol Hill, Paul creates value for those around him.“

"Paul represents the absolute best of our industry — personally and professionally," says Ward Nye, president and chief executive officer of Martin Marietta Materials and 2006 AggMan of the Year. "The word that comes to mind with Paul is his integrity; it marks all that Paul touches — operationally, politically and in his vision for our business.“

The December 2011 issue of Aggregates Manager featured a four-page article on Mellott. A formal award presentation was made on March 12, 2012, at an awards ceremony held during NSSGA's Annual Convention in Charlotte, N.C.
